Cannabidiol (or CBD) is a phytochemical chemical plant chemical that was discovered in 1940. It is a sought-after alternative medicine ingredient, accounting for more than 40% of the market. While CBD has some resemblances to THC, CBD doesn’t have the similar positive effects of euphoria. Instead, CBD works to stop certain immune cells from triggering certain tumor inflammations. While many people believe that CBD offers many advantages however, it’s important to remember that CBD is still extremely potent and may cause serious side consequences if consumed in excess.

It has been recognized for some time that CBD can be used as a replacement for alcohol in the treatment of anxiety disorders. The University of Pittsburgh’s Michael J. Gerber and his colleagues made the most recent discovery. They published their findings in Journal of Human Evolution. The Pittsburgh lab has recently been involved in the development of F.D.A. cannabidiol.

Gerber’s research showed that “the key to our success was identifying the compounds that give us the highest effectiveness without any of the side effects that are common in CBD.” CBD was once thought to be a psychoactive substance. It offered little to no medical advantages. CBD isn’t an amino acid, but it’s a phytochemical which is derived from the endocannabinoids that are found in cannabis, hemp, and a few other species of plants. These endocannabinoids are an natural antidepressant. Recent studies at the John Hopkins University have confirmed that CBD has anti-inflammatory properties. It could even decrease the frequency of seizures among children suffering from epilepsy that is not controlled.

However, although CBD is considered to be relatively safe, including occasional use with caution, there has been little definitive evidence on the effects on health of CBD when taken in combination with other medicinal drugs. Numerous studies on CBD and its active ingredients have been conducted in animals given CBD as well as other drugs. There is not much information available on the long-term human toxicity of CBD, and there is some evidence that suggests it may be toxic in certain conditions.

Recent reports by the US House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Power suggest that CBD may have psychoactive properties. Particularly, the committee was interested in studying the effect of CBD on patients who were prescribed Dronabinone, an anti-epileptic drug used to treat heroin addiction. The committee found that Dronabinol could be effective in reducing both the desire to be high and the urge to get the same dose again in order to feel better. However the report did not clarify which other drugs are used in conjunction with the CBD to alleviate the pain of narcotics.

The evidence isn’t certain whether CBD can be as effective at relieving anxiety than illegal drugs such as cannabis or as effective as psychostimulants such as Ritalin. CBD has a chemical composition that is similar to that of cannabis (cannabis, the sativa). This means that CBD is likely to have a lower impact on the user’s mental well-being than psychoactive pharmaceuticals like cannabis. However, there are no known adverse effects associated with CBD for humans. If CBD does relieve chronic pain associated with anxiety or seizures that are chronic in animals (as epilepsy sufferers have been treated with CBD) it could have some serotonergic properties which may be of some use in relieving anxiety in humans, without creating sedation. However, the CBD doesn’t appear to possess any serotonergic properties for humans.

Alongside the reported lack of side negative effects, there’s some evidence that CBD can prove useful as a natural cure for a variety of ailments like asthma, migraine headaches, menstrual disorders, indigestion and menstrual cramps, as well as being effective in treating marijuana-related recreational use. The US government has not yet approved CBD for sale as a prescribed medication. But, CBD can be used by minors. In addition, although hemp is grown across the majority of the USA, CBD is most often found in the southern region of the country in states such as Texas, Oklahoma and Florida, with production rates varying depending on the availability of industrial hemp. According to the hemp lobby, the federal government has yet not yet approved CBD cultivation as a form of medicine or for medical purposes.

While CBD may not have the same mind-altering effects of THC however, it has been proven to reduce nausea in a few instances, and some evidence suggests that CBD could help in reducing anxiety and seizures. As mentioned above the only health benefit of CBD is its ability to reduce the cravings caused by alcohol withdrawal. Since CBD is generally consumed by smoking rather than ingestion like THC and has fewer side effects than cannabis. CBD isn’t as psychoactive or mind-altering as cannabis, and therefore is considered to be less risky as compared to smoking cannabis. As mentioned above it is necessary to conduct more research to assess the full health benefits of CBD when compared to cannabis.
